While police officers are often seen in their cruisers, they aren’t seen face-to-face in casual settings as frequently.

That’s set to change on Feb. 16 when the James City County Police Department holds its “Coffee with a Cop” event.

The coffee meet and greet is scheduled to be held at Jimmy’s Oven and Grill, located at 7201 Richmond Road, on Feb. 16 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., according to a James City County news release.

The informal setting allows residents to ask questions and build relationships with their local officers, which they may not be able to do under other circumstances.

The event is intended to “break down barriers” with “relaxed, one-on-one interactions,” the release said.

Coffee with a Cop is a national program that includes police departments across all 50 states.
