Two dogs died and a home was damaged after a fire in Norge on Friday.

The James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department, as well as units from James City County, York County, and the Williamsburg fire departments responded to a structure fire Friday morning at the 4100 block of Votive in the Village at Candle Station, according to a James City County news release.

Fire crews arrived to find the fire in the kitchen.

The homeowners were not present at the time of the fire. However, firefighters found two dogs inside the house, both deceased.

The home suffered extensive heat and smoke damage.

The fire was determined by the James City County Fire Marshal to be “electrical in nature,” according to the release.
