Aldi grocery stores voluntarily recalled some popsicle and ice cream bar products on Jan. 10.
The recall for orange cream bars, raspberry cream bars, and ice cream bars is for products with a ‘best by’ date of Dec. 31, according to an Aldi news release.
“To date, no illnesses related to this product have been reported,” the release states.
According to the FDA, the Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
The desserts were sold by the dozen in 30 oz. boxes with one of the following UPC codes:
- Orange cream bars (041498186425)
- Raspberry cream bars (041498204631)
- Ice cream bars (041498179915)
Aldi is recommending customers destroy or return the products to the local store for a refund.
