
Don’t cancel your next doctor’s appointment, but area Walmart stores are providing free health screenings Saturday.
Walmarts across Hampton Roads will be hosting the first Walmart Wellness Day of 2018 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, according to a press release.
Greater Williamsburg has two Walmarts — one on Rochambeau Drive and another on Monticello Avenue.
The health screening will cover body-mass index, blood pressure and glucose level, and will include free vision screenings in certain locations.
Fifteen percent of Virginia adults smoke tobacco, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. To help people quit, Walmart is introducing a new virtual reality experience.
In previous Walmart Wellness Day events, more than 1.7 million free screenings and 225,000 immunizations have been provided nationwide. Hundreds of thousands of Americans turn out for each Walmart Wellness Day event, according to the release.
