Know before you go: Here’s what’s closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2018

Government offices and buildings across Williamsburg, James City County and York County will close for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday.

Before you head to the Department of Motor Vehicles or try to pay a bill, check this list to make sure where you’re going is open.

Not all services will be affected.

Here’s a roundup of some of the places that will be closed, so you can plan ahead:

  • All York and James City County offices
  • Municipal Building on Lafayette Street in James City County
  • Quarterpath Recreation Center
  • Williamsburg Regional Library
  • Williamsburg-James City County Courthouse on Monticello Avenue
  • Department of Motor Vehicles
  • York County Public Libraries
  • York-Poquoson Social Services
  • Virginia Cooperative Extension

Garbage will be collected on Monday and Tuesday as scheduled in York and James City County.

Waller Mill Park in Williamsburg will be open normal hours from 8 a.m.to 5 p.m.

If there is a water emergency during the holiday in Williamsburg, call 757-220-2331.

To pay a bill in Williamsburg on Monday, a convenient 24-hour bill payment drop box is located on the front of the Municipal Building, located at 401 Lafayette St., or payments can be made online.

In James City County bill payments made on Monday will not be posted until Tuesday.
