Roads are open again near the Williamsburg National Golf Course after a gas leak.
Authorities from the James City County Fire Department said residents were smelling gas in the 3700 block of Centerville Road Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m.
Fire crews responded and determined there was a significant amount of natural gas odor in the area presumably due to a leak of some type.
Emergency workers closed off the area after it was determined that there could be a significant amount of gas and potential hazards.
The Virginia Natural Gas (VNG) was notified and local crews responded.
It was determined that a leak had occurred at a valve.
The VNG crews secured the leak and rerouted gas service so that customers were not affected.
The area was deemed safe and traffic was reopened about 10:30 am.
