Graffiti spelling out words such as “rape” and “rapists” on fraternity houses at William & Mary has sparked a police investigation.
College of William & Mary officials believe the graffiti was painted on fraternity houses along Ukrop Way overnight Wednesday.
Some graffiti was also found on a community building, college spokeswoman Suzanne Seurattan said.
No particular organization was targeted, Seurattan added.
“Defacing university buildings or destruction of property is never an acceptable form of expression,” the college said in a statement.
William & Mary Police are investigating the incident.
The college asks anyone with knowledge of the incident to call William & Mary Police at 757-221-4596.
