Police have filed formal charges against a man they believe threw a napkin holder at the head of another man who was being thrown out of a Williamsburg bar.
Williamsburg Police responded to a report of an assault at Brickhouse Tavern Sept. 9 around 1 a.m., according to police spokesman Maj. Greg Riley.
The victim told police he was being escorted out of the bar when a man threw a napkin holder that struck him in the head. He said he did not know the man who threw the object.
The victim did not receive injuries that required medical attention, Riley said. The victim was being escorted out of the bar for trying to leave with an alcoholic beverage, Riley added.
Four days after the alleged assault, an investigating officer identified the suspect as 23-year-old Demetric Lamont Radcliffe of James City County. The investigating officer obtained warrants on Sept. 14 charging Radcliff with two counts of assault and one count of destruction of property, Riley said.
Radcliffe was served the warrants Monday around 10 a.m. and was released on summons, Riley said. He is scheduled to appear at the Williamsburg-James City County General District Court on Sept. 26 at 8:30 a.m.
