Health officials are searching for a white poodle they say bit a person at a Home Depot on Mooretown Road Sunday.
The poodle bit the victim at the store, which is located in the Williamsburg area of York County, according to a Peninsula Health District news release.
The bite victim may have to receive the rabies vaccine if the dog is not found. If the dog is found, it will not be taken away from its owner — instead it will be restricted to the owner’s home for a period of 10 days, the release said.
The Peninsula Health District asks anyone who has seen a dog matching the description in the area to call York County Animal Control at 757-890-3601 or James City County/Williamsburg Animal Control at 757-253-1800.
Residents are urged to vaccinate their pets against rabies, report all exposures and observe wildlife from a distance, the release stated.
