Police have released the identity of a man killed in a shooting in the York County area of Williamsburg Sunday morning.
The man has been identified as 33-year-old Raheem Antonio King, last known to live in the 100 block of Old Colonial Drive in Williamsburg, according to a news release from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office.
York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the area of Mooretown and Ewell Road around 8:44 a.m. Sunday after reports of a shooting, according to YPSO spokeswoman Shelley Ward.
Police found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. She was transported to a nearby hospital. King was found dead. The two were not inside a residence when they were found, Ward said.
Police have not classified the shooting as a criminal homicide or murder, Ward said.
“This does not appear to be a homicide,” the release stated. “However, we are waiting for autopsy results. The parties were known to each other.”
