Police officers are most often seen during emergencies and arrests, but James City County residents will have a chance Thursday morning to speak with officers in a relaxed setting.
The police department will host their Coffee with a Cop event Thursday at the Carrot Tree, located at 1303 Jamestown Road, according to a James City County news release.
The event will run from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., the release said.
“Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn about the Department’s work in the County’s neighborhoods,” the release said.
The informal setting allows residents to ask questions and build relationships with their local officers, which they may not be able to do under other circumstances. The event is intended to “break down barriers” with “relaxed, one-on-one interactions,” the release said.
Coffee with a Cop is a national program that includes police departments across all 50 states.
