Officials identify man found dead on W&M campus

Officials at the College of William & Mary have released the identity of a man found dead near the Dillard Complex on campus Friday night.

According to William & Mary spokeswoman Suzanne Seurattan, the man has been identified as Lonnie E. Dove, 54, of Williamsburg.

“We do not suspect foul play in this incident but await a final determination by the medical examiner,” Seurattan said in an email Monday.  “We know this is a difficult time for the family and our thoughts go out to them.”

William & Mary Police Police began a death investigation after a body was found on campus shortly before 8 p.m. Friday.

According to Seurattan, a passerby discovered Dove’s body in an outside area at the Dillard Complex off of Ironbound Road.

According to Williamsburg Police spokesman Maj. Greg Riley, the college police department is heading up the investigation.
