A Poquoson teen and a Newport News woman are in custody after police say they concealed a dead body in the woods of York County last summer.

According to Lt. Dennis Ivey of the York Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, 19-year-old Dylan Wright of Poquoson was arrested after he turned himself in to police Tuesday. 24-year-old Rachel Walters of Newport News was arrested Monday.

The two are charged with filing a false police report, conspiracy to commit a felony, and unlawful disposal of a dead body in connection to the death of a Poquoson resident last summer.

On July 7, 2016, York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office deputies responded a report of the body of a man found in the woods near the 100 block of Theatre Road in Yorktown, Ivey said.

Investigators later determined the man, identified as a 20-year-old Poquoson resident, had died from a drug overdose, Ivey said.

Online court records were not updated as of 3 p.m. Tuesday with upcoming hearings for Walters and Wright.
