The dog days of summer may be over, but summer is not quite over for local dogs thanks to the Heritage Humane Society.
This Saturday, Heritage Humane, in partnership with James City County, will be hosting its annual Drool in the Pool event at Chickahominy Riverfront Park.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the park’s pool will become a swimming hole for dogs, according to a recent press release from Heritage Humane.
For $10 per dog, participating canines will have the opportunity to take a dip in the pool while their owners enjoy music from WMBG AM 740, taste refreshments and visit local vendors including Professional Pet Sitting, Wagging Tails Dog Walking and Perfect Paws Pet Training, the release stated.
The pool, located at 1350 John Tyler Memorial Highway, will be open to local dogs — and dogs only — during the event. No humans will be allowed in the water.
To check the status of the event in case of inclement weather, call the James City County event line at 757-259-3232. All proceeds from the event benefit the animals at Heritage Humane Society.
