Two teenagers have been arrested for threatening shootings at Tabb High School through messages on bathroom walls, investigators said.
A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl are accused of writing two separate messages, one of which was determined to be a “copycat,” investigators said.
Investigators have determined the threats were not credible.
A custodian discovered the first message, which threatened a shooting on “10/23/15” on the wall of a boys bathroom Oct. 20.
The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation and stationed more deputies at the school to maintain a safe environment.
In the course of the investigation, a second message – determined to be a “copycat,” investigators said – was found on a girls bathroom wall, also threatening a shooting.
Investigators arrested a 17-year-old girl, whose name is not being disclosed because of her age, in connection with the copycat incident Oct. 22. She is being held at Merrimac Juvenile Detention Center.
York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office deputies have charged the girl with a misdemeanor count of destruction of property and felony counts of conspiracy to commit a felony and threats to bomb or damage a building.
On Oct. 27, investigators arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the original threatening message.
The boy, whose name is not being disclosed because of his age, has been charged with a misdemeanor count of destruction of property and felony counts of conspiracy to commit a felony and threats to bomb or damage a building.
He is being held at Merrimac Juvenile Detention Center.
