Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a shooting that took place in York County on Sunday night.

Lt. Dennis Ivey, a York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, said an adult and a juvenile are accused of shooting into a house in the 100 block of Ponsonby Drive – in the Yorkshire Downs area of Tabb – at around 11:45 p.m. Sept. 27.

There were three adults and two juveniles in the house at the time but none of them were injured, Ivey said.

Deputies arrested a 17-year-old Sept. 28 and charged him with shooting into an occupied dwelling, Ivey said. He is being held at the Merrimac Juvenile Detention Center.

A second suspect, 23-year-old Kenneth Abbott, was arrested Sept. 29 and charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling. He is being held at the Newport News Jail, Ivey said.

The Sherriff’s Office determined the shooting was in retaliation for an earlier fight that took place in Poquoson, Ivey said. He said deputies believe this an isolated incident that is not related to shootings that took place in the same area last month.

Ivey said police are still investigating a shooting of an occupied home in the 1000 block of Stewart Drive off Penniman Road in Upper York County. He said the incidents on Ponsonby Drive and Stewart Drive are not related.

Individuals with information on either crime are encouraged to call the Crime Line at 888-LOCK-U-UP, Ivey said.
