James City County is looking for ideas from locals for landscaping and beautification projects.
The county is currently accepting applications for the Fall 2015 Good Neighbor Environment Matching Grant Program, which provides funding for sustainability-themed community projects.
The program is funded by the James City Clean County Commission and awards up to $500 to community groups and homeowners associations, contingent on the organizations matching the grant amount.
The program seeks to build the spirit of community in James City County by encouraging neighborhood involvement in the development of environmental projects in the county.
Applicants can submit plans in two categories: physical improvement/sustainable landscaping and multi-neighborhood project partnerships.
Applications are due 5 p.m. Sept. 1. Applications are available online at the James City County website. Completed applications can be submitted via email to dawn.oleksy@jamescitycountyva.gov or by mailing six copiesto the James City County general Services department, Attn: Dawn Oleksy, 107 Tewning Rd., Williamsburg, Va. 23188.
The winners will be announced Sept. 15.
