Emergency officials have closed off the area of the Freight Shed on the Yorktown Waterfront due to a possible gas leak.
Authorities from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said citizens were smelling gas around the area at around 1 p.m.
Deputies evacuated the Freight Shed, which was open and filled with artwork as part of the second annual juried art show.
The area has been closed off, but the beach and the rest of the art show along the waterfront remains open at this time, according to a post on the YPSO Facebook page.
Deputies said Virginia Natural Gas is on the scene checking for any possible leaks.
