Free trolley rides through Yorktown will be back starting on Friday, linking sites throughout the historic village.
The Yorktown Trolley operates from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Nov. 1. The hours will change to 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day.
The three trolleys stop at designated locations throughout the historic village every 20 to 25 minutes, with the route beginning at the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center and ending at the Yorktown Victory Center.
The Yorktown Trolley received national recognition last year for its talking bus system, which tracks the trolleys’ locations and automatically makes audible and visual stop announcements.
Each trolley also has televisions that show images and historic information at each stop, air conditioning and a wheelchair-accessible design. They can transport up to 28 seated passengers and 19 standing passengers.
