Campus police and the FBI are looking into the credibility of emails that contained threats to bomb a department at the College of William & Mary.
Chairman of the William & Mary Emergency Management Team Sam Jones said the college has been receiving the bomb threat via email over the past 24 hours.
“While no immediate threats to campus have been identified, we want the community to be aware,” he said in an email to the W&M community Monday.
The initial threatening email was sent to an administrative office’s email account on Sunday, and by Monday morning, three other departments at the college received the same email, according to Suzanne Seurattan, the director of news and media at the college.
Seurattan said the emails were generic and posed no immediate threat.
Jones asked anyone who has received a threatening or suspicious email to notify William & Mary Police at 757-221-4596.
The threats are still under investigation.
