A 32-year-old woman is facing felony charges after authorities say she drove her three children to a baseball game while heavily intoxicated.
Kara J. Castle, who lives in the 4300 block of Declaration Drive, drove her baby and her two elementary school-aged children to Grafton Middle School on Friday night while under the influence of alcohol, said Lt. Dennis Ivey with the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies received a call at around 6:45 p.m. Friday from the children’s father, who said Castle left the two older children to watch the baseball game alone and returned home with the baby.
The two older children called their father after about an hour, and he came and picked them up, Ivey said.
When deputies arrived at Castle’s home, she appeared to be “very intoxicated,” Ivey said.
Investigators believe she drove about a mile from her home to the middle school while under the influence.
Castle’s blood alcohol level during the time of the incident was not available. She faces three felony counts of child neglect.
