Pier 1 Imports finished its move from Windsormeade Marketplace to Settler’s Market last week, opening for business in a new building on Casey Boulevard.

The store originally opened in Windsormeade Marketplace when that shopping center opened in 2005, however it signed a lease in March 2014 to move to the other side of Route 199 to Settler’s Market, a new shopping center adjacent to New Town.

The 7,586 square foot store is located at 4625 Casey Boulevard, where it is located near existing businesses including Petco, Which Wich Superior Sandwiches, Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, Pizzeria Marzano and Noodles & Company.

“We are pleased to bring this new Pier 1 Imports to Williamsburg and hope that our new location will inspire customers to discover the eclectic and fun merchandise that is unique to Pier 1 Imports,” the company’s President and CEO Alex W. Smith said in a news release announcing the move.

Smith said the company is looking forward to sharing “our unique shopping experience” with area residents. The store is the 35th in Virginia and will employ 16 to 19 employees during the year, with their hours fluctuating based on business needs and season.

The store is built in the “new concept” Pier 1 Imports debuted in 2011. The “natural evolution of the Pier 1 Imports experience” uses natural-colored floor tiles, “rustic ceiling elements,” new lighting and “open stock” merchandise, which allows customers to handle products on the sales floor, according to the news release.

Settler’s Market, which is part of the broader New Town development, has experienced rapid growth in the past year. Work is also underway on a community of 106 townhouses called Village Walk at New Town.
