The City of Williamsburg is moving forward with its search to replace departing City Manager Jack Tuttle.
The city is holding a public comment period on the search, which is running from Feb. 27 through March 6 at SpeakUpWilliamsburg.com. The website features a description of the position and asks residents to provide feedback on the skills and qualities they want to see in the next city manager.
The comments and feedback will be shared with Springsted Inc., an executive recruitment and hiring firm, which is leading the search and hiring process for the next city manager.
The city manager is responsible for implementing policies established by the City Council, and leads the city government’s departments and offices.
Tuttle announced in November he would retire as city manager in June after 23 years on the job. He is the sixth person to serve in that capacity since the city adopted the council-manager form of municipal government in 1932.
Mayor Clyde Haulman has said the city hopes to have a new manager set to begin July 1.
