A winter storm predicted to bring less than a half inch of snow overnight Tuesday in the Historic Triangle has caused local schools to close Wednesday.

The York County School Division, Providence Classical School and Williamsburg-James City County Schools will be closed Wednesday due to the new snow.

YCSD has instructed 12-month custodial and maintenance staff to report at their regularly scheduled time, and 12-month evening custodial and maintenance staff to report at 8 a.m.

Williamsburg Montessori School will open at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Hampton Roads Academy, Williamsburg Christian Academy and Walsingham Academy will open on a two-hour delay.

Thomas Nelson Community College will open at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

York County government offices will open two hours late.

The Yorktown Naval Weapons Station will be on a 2-hour delay for non-essential personnel Wednesday.

A snowstorm last week closed schools in the Historic Triangle for four days. At a Monday meeting of the York County School Board, Superintendent Victor Shandor said “all options” are on the table to make up for those missed days.

A Wednesday night storm is forecasted to bring an additional 3 to 5 inches of snow to the Historic Triangle. YCSD announced last week that Friday, which had been scheduled as a half day for students, would be converted to a full day to make up for lost instructional time.
