Original Post: The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the Historic Triangle on Wednesday night and Thursday morning for a storm predicted to bring about 3 to 5 inches of snow to the area.
That snow will come in addition to Tuesday afternoon and evening snow, which is forecast to contribute less than an inch of additional snow to the area.
A watch means the potential exists for a winter storm. It will be sunny with a high near 44 on Wednesday, but by 1 a.m. Thursday, the snow is expected to begin.
The snow is predicted to stop falling around noon Thursday. Temperatures will hover near freezing until Sunday, when the high is forecast to hit 46.

She urged residents to delay travel unless absolutely necessary while the Virginia Department of Transportation worked to treat and clear interstates throughout Hampton Roads.
VDOT began pretreating roads Tuesday afternoon with a focus on bridges, offramps, overpasses and “hotspots” identified by interstate monitors, according to a news release.
Surface streets in the Historic Triangle were also pretreated Tuesday afternoon. VDOT recommends drivers remain alert as icy conditions may develop during the week.
