York County’s Sheila Noll Announces Re-Election Bid for Supervisor Seat

Sheila Noll served as vice chairman of the York County Board of Supervisors in 2012. She was not nominated to be chairman in 2013, a departure from the tradition of electing the previous year's vice chairman as chairman.

The lone woman on the York County Board of Supervisors is planning to run for a sixth time in the November election.

Representing District 2, which comprises the Kiln Creek and Coventry areas in the lower part of the county, Sheila Noll is in her 20th year on the Board of Supervisors.

She served as chairman twice, in 1998 and 1999.

“I’m always pleased to have a leadership role, but I focus on my service to others,” she said in a phone interview.

She said she was “disappointed” the other four supervisors had forgone the tradition of naming the previous year’s vice chairperson to the top role, skipping over her in 2013 after she had served a year as vice chairman.

“I just have to rise above it,”said Noll, who abstained from voting for chairman and vice chairman the last two years.

The Republican’s goals for the county are much the same as in past campaigns, with communication among the supervisors, quality education, economic development and regional cooperation hitting the top of the list.

The daughter and wife of U.S. Navy men, Noll graduated from the College of New Rochelle with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences.

Noll has been involved with several York County boards and commissions throughout her time on the Board of Supervisors, including the Peninsula Alliance for Economic Development, the Peninsula Community Foundation of Virginia and the York County Library Foundation.

York County citizens will vote for their respective district’s supervisor Nov. 3.
