A man is accused of stealing assorted jewelry Aug. 24 from a home on Riverview Road near York River State Park where he delivered a refrigerator.

Bruce Cherry, a 28-year-old man from Hampton, was arrested  in Hampton on Dec. 23, four months after he allegedly stole about $10,000 of assorted jewelry from the bedroom after asking the owner of the home, who was present at the time of the refrigerator installation, to use the bathroom.

He allegedly pawned five of the stolen items at a pawn shop in Newport News, a police report shows. No other items have been recovered at this time.

Cherry is charged with one felony count each of grand larceny and larceny with intent to sell.
