A section of Quarterpath Road near the Quarterpath shopping center has been reopened to vehicle traffic.
The City of Williamsburg originally planned to shut down the portion of Quarterpath Road between Redoubt Park and Quarterpath Crossing — the shopping center near the intersection of Quarterpath Road and Route 199 — to allow for the installation of a stormwater system for the Quarterpath at Williamsburg development.
The section of road reopened Friday and will remain open for vehicle traffic through Thanksgiving weekend. City Engineer Aaron Small said motorists should be aware of potential delays as contractors work within the vicinity of Tutter’s Neck Pond dam.
The road will again be closed to traffic beginning Dec. 1 and running through Dec. 15. Small said the closed section would be limited to the unpaved section behind Quarterpath Crossing.
The city is installing detour signs along Battery Boulevard and Route 60, redirecting traffic around the closed section.
