James City County Police are asking the public for information about a hit-and-run incident in which a 52-year-old man driving a motor scooter was hit by a car and dragged down the road.
The James City County man was driving west on Pocahontas Trail near the intersection of Woodside Drive around 11:18 p.m. Oct. 3 when he was struck from behind by a small white or light-colored vehicle, according to a news release.
After being hit, the man and his scooter were then dragged about 450 feet, Deputy Chief Stephen Rubino said. The vehicle then continued westbound without stopping.
The man driving the scooter was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center by ambulance and treated for lacerations and abrasions.
Police are asking for anyone with information on the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 888-LOCK-U-UP. Rubino said the suspect’s vehicle may have damage to the front end and/or undercarriage and the driver may seek to repair the vehicle.
