A 30-year-old James City County man is facing charges after he allegedly attacked another man at the Country Village Mobile Home Park, leaving him with a broken nose, a fractured eye socket and a concussion.

Police believe Kenneth Dale Sturgell attacked the man between 2:30 and 3:30 a.m. July 3 in a yard on Elbow Beach Lane. The 20-year-old alleged victim told police he was arguing with Sturgell when he head-butted him, knocked him to the ground and started to choke him, James City County Police Department Deputy Chief Stephen Rubino said.

Sturgell is also believed to have threatened the 20-year-old, telling him he would kill him if he called police or tried to get a protective order. Alcohol was a factor in the alleged fight.

Rubino said the 20-year-old was taken to Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center for treatment. He said the nature of the relationship between the two men is unclear.

Sturgell faces one felony count of malicious wounding, one felony count of strangulation and one misdemeanor count of intimidating a witness.
