A portion of Xanterra’s neighborhood plan amendment is scheduled to go before the James City County Planning Commission on Wednesday, but may be deferred again.
The Planning Commission first considered changes to Kingsmill at its March 5 meeting, but Xanterra requested a decision be deferred from that meeting to the commission’s April meeting. The plan is on the commission’s agenda, but Xanterra submitted another deferral request March 24. That request will be considered Wednesday.
Vernon Geddy III, who is the attorney representing Xanterra Kingsmill LLC and Kingsmill Resort Development LLC, submitted a letter to county staff asking the only remaining portion of the plan be pushed back to the commission’s May meeting. That portion of the plan would change a designation for 18 units in the Cottages on the James, which are already approved and under construction, to allow owners to stay in the cottages for longer than 60 days.
Earlier this month, Geddy sent a letter asking to pull a plan to build an additional 207 homes in Kingsmill from the commission’s consideration. The plan to expand the neighborhood was deferred at the March 5 commission meeting, but Xanterra decided to work toward addressing more community concerns before bringing the plan back for review.
