James City County is accepting applications from citizens who want to add their land to the county’s Agricultural and Forestal Districts.
The county’s AFDs allow citizens to put land used for farming or growing trees into protection from development in exchange for tax savings. Several existing AFDs in the county are up for renewal in October, so the county is currently accepting applications to add , remove or modify land in those districts.
Applications are being accepted for the following districts:
- Armistead
- Barnes Swamp
- Carter’s Grove
- Christenson’s Corner
- Cranston’s Pond
- Croaker
- Gordon Creek
- Gospel Spreading Church Farm
- Hill Pleasant Farm
- Mill Creek
- Williamsburg Farms
- Yarmouth Island
