Some James City County boards and commissions have new faces after the county’s Board of Supervisors announced its picks for vacant seats Tuesday.
Seats on some boards and commissions were up for appointment at the end of January. The board’s last January meeting was postponed due to snow, which left a few seats on some boards vacant for a few weeks.
The Planning Commission, which is tasked with looking at certain proposed projects to determine whether they are appropriate land uses, will have at least one new member. John Wright was appointed to an at-large seat on the board in place of former commissioner Mike Maddocks. Richard Krapf was appointed to the Powhatan seat in place of former commissioner Al Woods. Krapf previously filled the Stonehouse seat but was redistricted in 2011; he would have been allowed to finish out his term in the Stonehouse seat, which was set to end Jan. 31, 2015. Robin Bledsoe was reappointed to fill the Jamestown seat.
The now vacant Stonehouse seat on the commission will remain open for up to two weeks, which will allow interested citizens to apply. Those interested in applying can find more information on the county’s website.
Williamsburg-James City County School Board member Heather Cordasco has been appointed to the Regional Issues Committee in place of Krapf. Maddocks formerly served as the Planning Commission’s representative for the committee so the commission will need to appoint a new representative.
Stephen Rogers was reappointed to represent the Berkeley District on the Board of Zoning Appeals. William Taylor and William Harcum were appointed to the Agricultural and Forestal District Advisory Committee, and Parks and Recreation Director John Carnifax was appointed to the Colonial Group Home Commission. Financial and Management Services Director John McDonald was appointed to the Colonial Behavioral Health Board of Directors, and Dr. Martin Mathes was reappointed to the Purchase of Development Rights Committee.
All four members of the Board of Equalization were reappointed.
