Construction work to install a concrete sewer pipe as part of the Lakeside Drive Improvement Project will continue this weekend, resulting in continued road detours.
From 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Virginia Department of Transportation crews will close Lakeside Drive between Beechwood Drive and Bailey Road to through traffic.
Residents who live within the road closure will have access to their homes at all time.
The detour will be as follows:
Westbound traffic on Lakeside Drive:
Turn left onto Showalter Road
Turn right onto Ella Taylor Road
Follow to Route 17
Eastbound traffic on Lakeside Drive:
Take Route 17 to Ella Taylor Road
Turn left onto Showalter Road
Follow to Lakeside Drive
The work depends on weather conditions. Signs will be placed to alert drivers of the detour and road closure.
