Woman Says Half-Sister Attacked Her with Baton
A 22-year-old Grove woman told police her half-sister — whom she had not seen in several years — attacked her with a police-style baton sometime after 11 p.m. Aug. 6.
On Aug. 9, the victim approached Fire Station Two in Grove, where police were summoned. She told police she was approached by a vehicle on the 200 block of Tarleton Bivouac off Pocahontas Trail in Williamsburg. Her half-sister got out of the vehicle and confronted her about money she said she was owed before striking her three times with the baton, according the report.
The woman had bruising on her neck, head and body. Nothing was taken from her. Police have made no arrests in the case, which remains under investigation.
Man Arrested for Breaking into Garage, Stealing Chainsaw
A man has been charged with breaking into a garage and stealing a chainsaw, which was later found in the woods.
An off-duty James City County police officer watched a man jump the fence at a residence in the 6200 block of Adams Hunt Drive just before 9 a.m. Wednesday. The suspect was then seen at the back of the residence and then running into the woods. Police believe the suspect broke into the garage and grabbed the chainsaw before fleeing the scene.
Responding officers found the suspect, 27-year-old Justin David Altizer, and arrested him. He has been charged with burglary and is facing additional charges for grand larceny and destruction of property.
