One of the southbound lanes of the James River Bridge will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday so crews may perform routine maintenance.
A news release from the Virginia Department of Transportation said the crews will also be performing test lifts of the bridge during the late morning and early afternoon hours. Those lifts will each last about 20 minutes.
Once a test lift is completed, the bridge will reopen to traffic to allow any queued vehicles to clear. No test lifts are scheduled during peak travel times.
