
Stand-up comedian and “Parks and Recreation” star Retta will perform at The College of William & Mary on April 4.
The star’s appearance will be at 8 p.m. in the Chesapeake room of the Sadler Center. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $8 and are available in the Sadler Center Lobby from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. April 1 to 4.
Retta, whose full name is Marietta Sirleaf, stars as Pawnee, Ind. employee Donna Meagle on NBC’s “Parks and Recreation.” An episode featuring Meagle and Tom Haverford, played by comedian Aziz Ansari, celebrating a day of spa treatments and shopping sprees launched the catchphrase, “Treat yo’ self.”
She’s also developed a passionate following on Twitter, where she live-tweets and recaps popular television shows.
The New Jersey native started her career in pharmaceutical research after graduating from Duke University, but decided to pursue a career in comedy in 1996. She has performed stand-up comedy on Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend” and appeared in a comedic short on FunnyorDie.com.
