Walsingham Hires New Admissions Director

Richard Plank

Walsingham Academy has hired a new director of admissions, effective this summer.

Richard Plank will bring 18 years of experience at independent college preparatory schools in Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts and Virginia when he joins Walsingham on July 1.

He will be leaving his position as director of admissions at Cape Henry Collegiate School in Virginia Beach to oversee recruitment, enrollment and admissions for pre-K through 12th grade. He’ll succeed Anita Magliola.

At Cape Henry, Plank has managed the school’s entire admissions process and initiated target recruitment and enrollment programs. He has a bachelor’s degree from University of North Carolina-Charlotte and earned a master’s degree in education with a concentration in administration and supervision from the University of Phoenix.

Plank, who attended independent schools and is the son of independent school teachers, said he was searching for “his next professional challenge” nationwide, but found a perfect fit an hour away.

“What struck me about the Walsingham Academy community during my interview process was how dedicated and passionate the students, parents, teachers and administrators are about, not only each other, but the greater community, as well,” he said in a news release. “This caring atmosphere, coupled with the academic rigor, made it an easy choice to join the community as a professional and as a parent.”
