The last scheduled public hearing for citizens to speak in favor of or against the proposed overhead power line from Surry to Skiffes Creek is scheduled for Thursday in Richmond.

The proposed Surry to Skiffes Creek overhead line is a preemptive strike by Dominion Power to meet reliability standards in 2015. The line is opposed by James City County citizens who do not want the line to detract from the historical view of the river. Dominion Power representatives say the technology to put the line underwater does not exist and alternate routes are too expensive and don’t meet necessary requirements.
