In response to several unexplained failures with the water line located in Indigo Dam Road, James City Service Authority has hired Henry S. Branscome, LLC to replace the water line.
Larry Foster, JCSA manager, said several failures over a significantly brief time period have led to replacement of the 30- to 35-year-old line. He said the “new line will use more modern-robust materials and installation will be closely monitored by JCSA.”
Preliminary work for the new line is expected to begin in mid-January and construction will be underway in early February. The project should be completed by June 2013.
Construction on the line could disrupt or reduce water service; residents will be notified by phone or information placed on front doors if service will be affected.
“No closure of Indigo Dam Road [is] expected,” Foster said. He said individual driveways may be blocked for brief periods of less than four hours and homeowners will be notified if their driveways will be closed.
Failures and breaks in the line in 2011 prompted Foster to talk about a proposal to replace the line. Read a previous article on that here.
Two JCSA representatives can be contacted with questions or concerns: Project Manager Michael Vergakis at 757-259-5453 and Project Inspector Chris Courson at 757-592-1803.
JCSA sent a letter to residents of Indigo Dam Road to let them know of the intended repairs.
