JCC Board Unanimously Approved All Agenda Items Tuesday

The James City County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to approve several special use permit requests, an Agricultural and Forestal District request and some changes to zoning ordinances at its Tuesday meeting.

Three special use permits were granted:

  • The Stewart family will be dividing a 7.87 acre piece of land located at 9484 Richmond Road. The lot will be divided into three sub lots for the owner, their son and their daughter.
  • Toano Middle School will be improving the student drop-off area and adding some additional parking. Read a full story on the topic here.
  • King of Glory Lutheran Church located at 4897 Longhill Road will be adding a 12,500 square feet to satisfy a need for administrative offices, meeting areas and storage. Another expansion may be in the church’s future to enlarge the sanctuary and preschool.

A parcel of 104 acres located at 8700 Barnes Road and owned by Kevin Fair will be included in the Mill Creek Agricultural and Forestal District. If the property is included, it offsets pressure to develop the land.

The soil stockpile ordinances have been updated to maintain uniformity. Soil stockpiles are used during construction for grading and other purposes.

The new section adds regulations for stockpiles, which must:

  • Be located on-site, at least 50 feet from property lines and 100 feet from existing buildings
  • Have a minimal impact on existing residential streets
  • Have an absolute maximum height of 25 feet in a residential district and 40 feet in a commercial or industrial district
  • Be temporary in nature and limited to a two-year time period
  • Preserve existing vegetative buffers as well as limit the visibility along Community Character Corridors

The board voted to expand James City County’s Business Incubator to a regional effort.
