Sine Nomine Series to Feature Virginia Handbell Consort

YORKTOWN — The Sine Nomine Series will begin the Advent season with a Christmas program featuring the Virginia Handbell Consort.

An annual tradition, St. Mark and Sine Nomine Presents … the Virginia Handbell Consort will take place on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.

The VHC, directed by Alan Reese, “will herald the season of Advent with a lively program of traditional arrangements of holiday favorites as well as original arrangements by maestro Reese,” according to organizers.

The Virginia Handbell Consort is comprised of auditioned musicians performing on over five octaves of Schulmerich bells, five and a half octaves of Melody Chimes, three octaves of Petit and Fritsen bells and other percussion instruments.

The program takes place at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Yorktown and is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted to help support the concert series.
