Meet Cardi B, this week’s adoptable pet brought to you by Tito’s

All of us, dogs and humans, are works in-progress.  Some of us are more “in-progress” than others. When Cardi B first came to Heritage Humane Society she was anxious and scared of new people.  She quickly learned to trust the staff who fed and walked her every day. But had a hard time trusting everyone else. Her (lack of) manners around other dogs made us hesitant to introduce her to playgroups.

She still needs work.  When she sees other dogs on-leash, or separated by a fence, she will throw a bit of a tantrum.  In playgroups, she can get over-stimulated and sometimes has difficulty making new dog friends. And overall she definitely needs more exercise than ‘shelter living’ can provide.

But she has gotten so much better at showing her sweet, friendly personality to new people.  Two months ago she was distrusting and anxious around strangers. Now she is affectionate and eager to make new friends.  She has made a few dog friends, too. She seems to like big, Shepherd-type and Hound-dog boys the best. When she plays with them, she looks like a happy puppy forgetting all about her anxiety.

If you have a soft spot for the “difficult” dogs that need a little more work, then come meet Cardi B.  She wants to be a shining diamond, but she’s going to need some serious polishing.
