Run for the Bacon 5K Raises Nearly $5,000 to Support Youth Addiction Issues

WILLIAMSBURG, VA, June 19, 2018 – Bacon Street Youth and Family Services hosted its fourth annual Run for the Bacon 5K and 1 mile Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, June 2nd.

The Run for the Bacon 5K began at the pool on the grounds of Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg. The family-friendly day kicked off with a 1 mile Fun Run/Walk and was followed by the 5K Run/Walk. The day culminated in an awards presentation and the Family Fun Fest where participants and their families enjoyed games and food. The Fun Run awards went to Noah Payne and Emily Goldchmiedt. And the 5K top placers were Jackson Lloyd at 21:58.759 and Lindsey Colburn at 26:31.99.

“The opportunity to both provide a fun day of family-friendly activities and bring together those who help further our vision to empower the youth and families in our area to live free of substance abuse challenges is what makes this day truly special,” says Kim Dellinger, Executive Director.
