First-ever summer courses offered by Christopher Wren Association

Begin your summer by teasing your brain. Nine wide-ranging courses are being offered this summer, June 4 to 22, by the Christopher Wren Association.

The courses, available to all adults on a first-come, first-served basis, meet two or three times for two hours during mornings or afternoons.

The content of the courses are representative of the highly-attended and diverse subject matter courses offered by CWA during its Fall and Spring semesters. The titles of the summer courses are: Art and Anecdote; Enslaved People and Masters in Virginia 1619 to 1705; NASA’s Search for Life Beyond Earth; Fools and Crazy Men: A Short History of Submarine Warfare; Understanding Today’s World and Global Economic Trends, Issues, and Institutions; Five Amazing People Who Made the World a Better Place; Congress, the Constitution, and You; From Page to Stage: Musicals Based on Literary Works; The Holocaust: Confronting the Perpetrators.

The courses will be taught by three new and six seasoned CWA instructors. All courses will be held in the CWA classroom at 5300 Discovery Boulevard in New Town.  Ample parking is available, and it’s free.

“We are very excited to introduce a new learning opportunity to our already dynamic lifelong learning program,” said CWA Board President Wil Larkin. We are confident our current members will be excited about the summer session, but it also is a great way for anyone who has never taken a Christopher Wren class to see what we’re all about,” he added.

Registration is required. Seating for each course is limited. Sign-up for one or a few or all nine courses. The fee for each course is $25. The CWA membership fee doesn’t apply to this abbreviated program.

Registration opens May 9. Descriptions of the courses and the registration process are at www.wm.edu/cwa.  For more information call 757-221-1506 or email [email protected].
