Guests take a musical journey across the nation at the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg. From September – November, artists perform music that came from distant shores to become “America’s Music.” All concerts will be held in the Hennage Auditorium of the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum.
Each week features a different performer and featured instrument or country. These hour-long performances are at 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and include:
- Sept. 18, Oct. 23 and Nov. 13 – Stephen Christoff explores instruments of the traveling musician.
- Sept. 25 and Oct. 30 –Timothy Seaman demonstrates Civil War melodies on dulcimer, autoharp and flutes.
- Oct. 2 and Nov. 6 – John Turner plays Scottish fiddling tunes.
- Oct. 9 – Singer Kelly Kennedy and fiddler Andy Cleveland explore the Irish connection.
- Oct. 16 and Nov. 20 – Carson Hudson focuses on folk musical instruments.
Guests can enjoy live music as they tour the museum during “Music in the Museums.” Musicians perform on period instruments by members of the Governor’s Musick from 3-4:15 p.m. on Thursdays, Sept. 13 – Nov. 1 and Nov. 15.
