Early Morning Fire Damages Trailer Near York High School

YORK COUNTY — A fire damaged a classroom trailer near York High School early Tuesday morning, according to the York County Department of Fire and Life Safety.

At approximately 5:45 a.m. Jan. 20, officials said personnel were dispatched to the fire in the 9100 block of George Washington Memorial Highway near Falcon Road.

Crews encountered smoke coming from the roof of a trailer located adjacent to the York High School parking lot and well away from the school building itself, officials said. An active fire was found inside the structure, primarily in the ceiling. The fire was extinguished by 6:30 a.m., with multiple apparatus responding to assist.

The classroom trailer was being used for storage at the time of the incident and sustained significant damage, officials said

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.

Assistance was provided by the Newport News Fire Department.
