
JAMES CITY COUNTY — A three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Humelsine Parkway East and Quarter Path Road in James City County resulted in serious injuries Friday evening.
According to the James City County Police Department, at approximately 8:39 p.m., personnel responded to a report of a crash involving three vehicles, including one fully engulfed in flames.
All vehicle occupants had exited the vehicle immediately after the crash, police said. Four people were transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News for treatment. Two were listed in critical condition, while the remaining two were in stable condition.
JCCPD said the department’s Traffic Unit responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
According to police, preliminary findings indicate the driver of a 2001 Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on Humelsine Parkway, attempting to make a left turn onto Quarter Path Road when the driver of the Honda Accord proceeded through a red light into the path of a 2025 Kia K5 that was traveling on Humelsine Parkway westbound. The Kia struck the Honda Accord, causing it to spin and strike a 2018 Honda Civic.
Immediately after the crash, the Kia erupted into flames, police said. The James City County Fire Department was able to quickly extinguish the fire.
The westbound lanes of Humelsine Parkway at Quarter Path Road were closed for approximately three hours.
The driver of the Honda Accord was charged with failing to obey a traffic signal, police said.
