None Injured in Thursday Afternoon Tabb House Fire

TABB — No one was injured in a fire that caused significant damage to a home in the 200 block of Heavens Way in the Tabb area of York County Thursday afternoon.

According to officials, personnel from the York County Department of Fire and Life Safety were dispatched to the report of the residential structure fire at approximately 4 p.m. Aug. 14. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke and moderate fire conditions and began an aggressive fire attack. Portions of the house sustained significant damage.

The occupants of the home and the family’s dogs safely exited. As of Thursday evening, one indoor/outdoor cat had not yet been accounted for.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

Assistance was provided by Poquoson Fire and Rescue and the Langley AFB Fire Department, officials said. Fire station backfill coverage was provided by the Newport News Fire Department and Hampton Fire and Rescue.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
