YORK COUNTY — The Virginia Department of Transportation announced it will hold a design public hearing on Tuesday, June 24, for the proposed plans to widen Victory Boulevard in York County.
The project aims to improve capacity and mobility on Victory Boulevard (Route 171) from east of Bowman Terrace to Big Bethel Road (Route 600).
Expanding upon recent improvements to adjoining segments of the Route 171 corridor, VDOT said the proposal includes adding left-turn lanes on Victory Boulevard to North and South Bowman Terrace, a new eastbound right-turn lane to Big Bethel Road, new shoulders and a shared-use path along the north side of Victory Boulevard.
The hearing will be held Tuesday, June 24, from 5-7 p.m. at The Villages at Kiln Creek Recreation Center. VDOT said the purpose of the meeting is to give the public an opportunity to review the project exhibits on display, meet with VDOT representatives to ask questions and obtain project information and provide input.
The meeting will be held in an open-house style format with no formal presentation.
VDOT said the public may provide oral and written comments at the hearing or submit them by July 4 to Wali Zaman, P.E., Virginia Department of Transportation, 7511 Burbage Drive, Suffolk, Virginia 23435 or via email to Wali.Zaman@VDOT.Virginia.
